LABC Submit-a-Plan and The Planning Portal Joint Cooperation Statement
Planning Portal Accredited Partner
Local Authority Building Control (LABC) and The Planning Portal are pleased to announce that they are working together to provide a joined up solution to the electronic submission of Planning and Building Control Applications to Local Authorities in England and Wales.
The Planning Portal provides a solution for Planning Applications through www.Planningportal.gov.uk and LABC provides a Building Control Application solution through its own system www.Submit-a-Plan.com
LABC and the Planning Portal will work together to provide a joint approach to Local Authorities.

Initially this will consist of links between the websites followed by a joint initiative to investigate the possibilities of a more integrated solution.
Subject to the satisfactory outcome of trials, the Planning Portal will also be adding DataSpace, the back end Technical Document Management Solution supplied as part of Submit-a-Plan, as a recommended solution to the viewing and management of the technical documentation received as part of a typical Planning Application.
More than 180 Local Planning Authorities have signed to integrate with the Planning Portal , and Submit-a-Plan is being used by over 100 Local Authority Building Control sections throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The government has issued a policy that all Local Authorities should e-enable their services by 2005. This joint initiative means that Planning and Building Control will be at the forefront of electronic service delivery.
Update
After successful trials DataSpace is now recommended and fully accredited by the Planning Portal as the back end Technical Document Management Solution. Submit-a-Plan and the Planning Portal have also developed a partnership for the promotion of online applications via the two National Portals being www.Submit-a-Plan.com for Building Control applications and www.Planningportal.gov.uk for Planning applications.
