Implementation of DataSpace for Submit-a-Plan & DataSpace Planning

Promoting Online Applications

To date Submit-a-Plan has now been installed in over 150 Local Authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland allowing Local Authority Building Control and Planning Departments to receive and process electronic applications and help meet 2005 e-government targets.

At this time the number of applications made online remains low compared to paper applications. However, the main reasons for this is that the service is new and that Local Authority clients and the general public are not yet aware or understand the benefits of the service.

After a recent web survey of Local Authorities with Submit-a-Plan only around 15% of the Councils Building Control Webpages mentioned that they could accept electronic applications or had a link on to www.Submit-a-Plan.com Have you checked yours?

To increase the number of electronic applications there are several easy steps that can be taken, which include:

  • Inform customers using the joint Submit-a-Plan/Planning Portal marketing pack.

  • Discuss the benefits of Submit-a-Plan with your customers.

  • Get your customers to make a test application online.

  • Arrange a half day client seminar with Resolution at your office.

Getting prepared for receiving electronic applications is also important so that once you have received an application you are able to process it with ease. If you need assistance processing an application then please contact our support department who will help guide you though the process. Our support department is also available free of charge to those making an online application. Call 01242 260505

Resolution also provides a full range of training courses, which will help increase your knowledge of the system.
