Due to recent retirements we are recruiting to our Building Control team at all levels. We have vacancies at Assistant Surveyor, Surveyor, Senior Surveyor and Principal levels. With salaries ranging from £29,055-£48,331, if you are a Building Control professional we want to hear from you.
As a new and rapidly developing town the work in Milton Keynes is wide and varied, including villages mentioned in the Doomsday book, through to some of the country’s most modern and innovative developments. Work is across all types from domestic extensions and new housing through to commercial and large public buildings such as the recently listed shopping centre, the MK Dons football stadium and cinemas bars and restaurants.
The roles will include plan checking, site inspections and investigations of unauthorised works and dangerous structures, and the more senior roles will include some mentoring and supervisory duties.
All posts require experience in the construction industry, and an understanding of the Building Act, the Building Regulations, and the Building Control function, with the more senior roles requiring a more in-depth knowledge and experience. Knowledge and experience gained outside of Building Control will be considered when assessing applicants for all roles.

Senior Drainage Engineer (Building Control, Regeneration and Business Directorate)

We are looking to recruit a Senior Drainage Engineer to Central Bedfordshire Council’s Building Control team.
The varied workload for this post involves undertaking flood investigations and enforcement, appraisal of drainage design and inspection, procurement and contract management, and providing formal and informal advice on sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) and general flood risk management to the Local Planning Authority, developers, strategic partners, councillors and members of the public. We are looking for someone who has the technical skills to deliver this high-profile role, with the tact, diplomacy and communication skills essential for effective partnership working.

About Us
The South Worcestershire Building Control Partnership is a forward thinking, customer focussed Building Control Service dealing with all aspects of the Building Regulations, including the examination of full plans/building notice applications, site inspections, dangerous structures, unauthorised and regularisation applications and enforcement duties as and when required. We deal with a wide range of interesting development proposals across south Worcestershire for Malvern Hills District Council, Wychavon District Council and Worcester City Council.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and experienced surveyor to join a professional team with the reputation for delivering a high quality service across South Worcestershire.
As one of two team leaders, you will be jointly responsible for the day to day operation of the service. You will be a senior member of the team of Building Inspectors maintaining a caseload of applications for Building Regulations approval, including some complex and challenging projects. You will be expected to proactively seek opportunities to promote our Building Control service and increase market share. You will manage relationships between the Council and developers on a range of development proposals, providing an efficient and effective building control service and representing the service on a wide range of projects.
We require an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can demonstrate a capacity and enthusiasm for hard work. You will be required to liaise with members of the public or their agents, so will need to be comfortable working away from the office and be confident when dealing with customers. You will be working in a flexible office environment. You will be based in Great Malvern but may be required to also work from Pershore and/ or Worcester City. You will need to have good organisational and administrative skills and an ability to use computers for recording and retrieving information.
The post holder will be required to respond to reports of dangerous structures, will need a full driving licence and access to a car.

The Role

  • Accepting and registering applications from customers and the associated payments

The Person Our operations team staff are likely to have experience of managing customers. Although experience of the construction industry is not essential it would be an advantage however we are far more interested in people who share our values and wish to put our customers first.
You will be able to demonstrate that you have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and be a competent user of a range of IT Systems. You will be expected to learn quickly and to aid this should be unafraid to ask questions and seek expert advice.
