Douglas had a typical problem, how do you replace an aging back office system and provide an integrated online application process without breaking the bank?

“When looking to replace our aging Building Control system Douglas Borough Council drew up a comprehensive list of desirables which it wished to be incorporated into a replacement system. Having approached a number of different system providers the Council opted for DataSpace Live based on its ability to fulfil its needs, and within budget.”

DataSpace Live Office enabled Douglas to tick all the boxes, including inspections, plan-checking, payments, viewing/measuring, consultations and reporting while still allowing them to access their forms straight from their website. It also had the bonus of including them on Submitaplan.

Douglas have signed a five year contract for the system, including all hosting, updates and support.

The whole process has taken less than eight weeks from order to the initial implementation phase of a fully hosted Building Control front and back office management system including data import.

Challenges:-

• DS Live SmartForms were used to create the customised application forms accessible via Submit a Plan and their own website. This meant the forms were branded ‘Douglas’.

• Data was imported from various legacy systems.
